future stories

You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest.   John 4:35 (NLT)

Our community is full of stories waiting to develop, waiting to happen; ready to give their life to Christ.  They just don’t know it yet.  They haven’t been told about the transforming power of Jesus.   Who will tell them?  Who will let them know that they can change their story?

Life church is here to change peoples lives.  We are here for the broken, the drug addict, the thief, the liar, the adulterer, the drunk and the murderer.  We here to help them change their story and to lift up the one that can do that for them.   Will you help us reach these future stories?  Who can you tell this week about Jesus?  Who can you invite to Life this Sunday?

The Real Batman!

I love Batman. I mean the real Batman as in Batman Begins, the movie. All the other Batman movies pale in comparison to Batman Begins. I love the cape, the car, the cave….ok I’m getting carried away. During the “snow” scare, I was watching Batman Begins with my kids and a statement Batman made really impacted me; like BAM, SHAZAAM, BOOM….well you get it.

The statement was this, “It’s not who I am inside, it’s what I do that defines me”. I thought that’s it! That’s the church! It’s not who we are inside the church that defines us but what we do out in the community and everyday that defines us. We can talk about church and “what is it” all we want but the truth is the unchurched will define us by what we do. They are looking for the love of Christ demonstrated through us. Talk is cheap; let’s be the church and make an impact in our Gotham….I mean community.

Go Batman! Where’s Robin? Who cares!

Community

Acts 2:42-47    All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.    A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.   And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.   They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.  They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity  all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

True Community.   What are we willing to give up for the cause?  What are we willing to share?  Who are we willing to invite?   True community starts with giving of ourselves.  If you want to experience true community and a true church; you will have to start with yourself.  Give everything over to Him and watch a great transformation take place in your life.
