Worship

I’m re-reading (is that a word?) the book Purpose Driven Church by Rick Warren.   Here is a quote I want to share with you:  ”Worship is expressing our love to God for who he is, what he’s said, and what he’s doing.   We believe there are many appropriate ways to express our love to God.  These include praying, singing, thanking, listening, giving, testifying, trusting, obeying his Word, among many others.  God, not man, is the focus and center of our worship.”

How powerful!   Until next time.

Community

Acts 2:42-47    All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.    A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.   And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.   They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.  They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity  all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

True Community.   What are we willing to give up for the cause?  What are we willing to share?  Who are we willing to invite?   True community starts with giving of ourselves.  If you want to experience true community and a true church; you will have to start with yourself.  Give everything over to Him and watch a great transformation take place in your life.

Seeds of faith

Sunday we talked about sowing seeds of faith.   If you missed the service on Sunday go to our web site www.mylifechurch.org and click on podcast.   Several individuals have already started sowing their seeds of faith.    Sherrie Landrum started by creating business cards to give out and invite people to Life.   Her goal is to give out one card per day.  Bennie planned a flag football game and had several guys come to church with him prior to the game.   Many others are inviting and performing acts of Kindness.   This is what the church is about and this will grow our church.

The Bible says if we plant and water that God will provide the increase.    Are you planting and watering?  In other words are you getting involved and sowing “seeds of faith”.    As we learned Sunday a little faith + a big God = HUGE RESULTS.   I’m excited about what God is doing at Life.

Don’t forget January 27 we will have a revised version of our Experiencing Life Class.  Everyone should attend!   If you’ve been through the class before you need to go through it again.   Our action plan of 2008 will be revealed and we will answer many questions about our church, our values and our vision.    A meal will be provided and we’ll have child care for ages up to K5.  Sign up by sending an email to kevin@mylifechurch.org or signing up on your communication card this Sunday.
